What makes a Great Website?

Sparking the interest of today’s Internet surfers proves to be increasingly difficult in today’s fast-paced, “information on demand” society. A website not only must capture viewers’ attention, but entice them to pursue your product or business by helping them navigate your website effectively. If you want the message of your company or product to reach your target market and not get lost in the chaotic, ad-polluted internet, follow these three keys to a successful and effective website.
Content
One of the most important pieces of your website. This is everything that makes your company or product what it is. The content is what your website is all about, and it needs to be marketed professionally and be as attention-grabbing as possible. The more unique content you have, the more likely it is to be memorable and enticing to your audience. The main purpose of your content is to provide real information that your potential customer can use to determine whether your product or service is the best for them.
Visual Design
You want users to take your website seriously. You don’t want them to pass right by your website, or worse—on to your competitor. Your design must be visually appealing to as many viewers as possible by tastefully and efficiently utilizing pictures, fonts, graphs, charts and any other marketing aides. Visual design helps to represent your company and your message in the most favorable light before the customer even begins to read. Everything on the page needs to be easy to read, clean, tasteful, efficient and capture the image you wish to represent with your company and or product.
Organization
Is the third most important point to remember when building your website. An organized website will allow the viewer to be introduced to your product or service, find factual detailed information regarding the product or service, and the suggested direction the customer should take in order to acquire your product or service. People naturally have short attention spans on the Internet; continuous reading will most likely expend their focus and cause them to skip over the important content or disclosures regarding your goods or service. Break up your information into bite-size chunks to create a systematic flow that effectively combines informative content and attractive visual design. This will lead users briskly through your website while continuously promoting your product or service.
Following these three keys of successful website design will help to create an effective website that grabs the attention of your target market. Interest in your product or service will grow immensely just through the use of organized, visually-attractive content that puts your company’s best foot forward, and continued updates will drive repeat visitors as well as—most important of all—new customers.
